VW ACTION 2008
29th - Aug - 2008

Description:

Action always has been and always will be our number 1 show, its not just because Brad set up the foundation there in 2003, its just such a great show put on by great people.
Because of trading on mass we had kind permission off Brian and Brett to go down Thursday to set up and the journey up there was exciting to say the least!! Once there at Santa pod we set about putting the gazebo up and beat our record from last weekend and did it in 35 mins LOL. The idea was to have a chilled night ready for the onslaught over the weekend. Well the atmosphere took over and we all went to bed in the early hours of Friday morning!!
Getting up Friday morning was great as we could leisurely get up have breakfast and start getting the stall set up before the gates opened at 12.
Friday afternoon and night was spent busy trading and catching up with great mates.
Saturday came and to say we were busy from start to finish would be an understatement, Josh, Aimee, Callum and Lewis spent most of the day watching the drag racing and the monster truck shows, while the rest of us were busy selling the endless amount of pyjamas / gowns etc we had for sale for the Saturday night pyjama party. We also were getting everyone to have the pinky finger nails painted for 50p (more of that later).
Saturday night came and we all got on our pjs, 14 of us in red silky pj's with wee willy winky hats on (Thanks Brenda) it was great fun even before we set off for the dance tent, once there we were invited back stage which was great. We had a blast that night with Brian and Kevo spinning the tunes.
Throughout Saturday afternoon a group of volkzone guys and gals had dressed up as Brads baby dolls and raised £286 for us (top work)and Brian and Kevo invited them on stage to dance, they were so funny and all of them said they would do it again next year!!

How did this event go?

When the evening was drawing to a close a song that we have great memories of Brad was just about to come on when Brian invited us all on stage, the reception was amazing and I'm not afraid to say I had tears in my eyes, then cheer up sleepy jean came on and the whole crowd lifted their painted pinky fingers and sang along with us for the whole song Goosebumps or what!! Even our favourite bouncer PJ had his nails done waving them in the air LOL.
A night all of us will never forget. I can tell you Sunday morning was a hive of activity getting ready for the auction and the giving away of the Karmann Ghia. The auction came with Brian taking the reigns and doing an awsome job. The generosity of people is amazing there were cruiser bikes x3, magazine subscriptions, rolling road sessions etc etc but the highlight for me was the bog seat challenge, Brian had come up with the idea months ago for everyone who wanted to do a design on a bog seat and donate it to the auction. There were 17 in total and all of them were brilliant, Brians alone had 150 hours work in it and depicted Elvis Presley sitting in a dragster (nicknamed the throne) Simon (Nefarious) had Johny Cash's ring of fire which was ace. They were all great and raised us so much money it was incredible. The auction finished up with loads of lots left (which we have took home to start an online auction.)And when Nicola totted up and Brian gave us the total everyone was spellbound when the words £5400 came out of his mouth, WOW more tears followed.
Then it was time to draw the ghia and Kevo got Zach to draw the ticket, it was won by Mr Ian Bates from Nottingham he organises our local vw show so it was nice to see it stay in Nottingham.
As fast as we arrived it was time to go and after saying our goodbyes we all battled our way down the M1 in pouring rain finally getting home around 8.30 Sunday night, knackered but buzzing in what we had just experienced.
Our massive THANKS to Brian Burrows and Brett Hawksbee and the vw action family for putting on a storming show and making us feel so welcome as always, we love you guys.
Bring on next year!!!!!!
