Koolest Krooze 2009
From a conversation between myself and Dave Richards (AKA The Barefoot Chef) over a few beers at a VW show called Deva. The idea quickly evolved and before we knew it it was upon us!
BUT months and months of phone calls, e-mails and general organising went into this project mainly from Dave!!
The plan was to take the scatter hunt over the uk and beyond if possible, with each area organising their own event. In the end we had 7 areas covered including one from our VW friends in Belfast!
Our own area (East Midlands) went really well with the weather holding out rain wise, but the chill in the air seemed to fit into the whole scene of things. We had a total of 42 cars who took part all starting at the Moto services at Donnington and ending up at a 17th Century Inn for food / drinks and comedy prize giving. This was taken over by our good friend JENSON DE GROOVER who drove down from Bolton. Just to help us out, the long drive to do this was cool enough, but Jenson had some major operations in 2008 and this was his 1st outing, and to say we were grateful is an understatement. Thanks mate it means alot!!
After the hysterical prize giving we managed to raise approx £800. A phone call from Paul Cullen in Belfast (who did theirs in the snow) they said they raised £288. At this time we are waiting for the other 5 Scatter Hunts before we update this write up with a total figure etc.
The concensus of opion was that we all had a great day and that we should make this an ANNUAL event perhaps getting more areas involved!
